The Moholy-Nagy Fellowship honors László Moholy-Nagy, the Bauhaus master who founded the Institute of Design as The New Bauhaus in 1937.
This fellowship furthers László Moholy-Nagy’s vision by providing financial support to ID students who demonstrate commitment to using design to improve lives.
László Moholy-Nagy brought a revolutionary agenda to The New Bauhaus: to create a new aesthetic appropriate for a modern industrial society. He integrated disciplines, approached design holistically, and sought to use technology to improve lives.
His pioneering methods—including his approach to critique and focus on experimentation—continue to shape ID’s educational philosophy today.
